About Us

Why we do what we do..

A view..

Larp is the largest theater in the world.

Countless events have transformed castles, campsites or entire regions into backdrops for unforgettable experiences. Anyone who has ever been part of such an event knows how deeply personal experiences can get under your skin. It gives you the feeling of temporarily entering the world of a movie.

We have made it our mission to develop and manufacture the right equipment for this special “film”.

A review..

Because we have been LARPers ourselves for a long time and have built equipment for many years, we know what is important when it comes to equipment.

When we went to our first LARPs in the early 1990s, LARP weapons were still made of bamboo tubes with pipe insulation and tape. There were a few "high-end" weapons made of foam with a latex coating and our mothers sewed our costumes. A chainmail shirt was lovingly knotted at home over months and the rings for it cost as much as a finished shirt today.

Since you could hardly buy anything ready-made, or if you could, it was very expensive, you made a virtue out of necessity and made a lot of things yourself. In 1997, Kai built his first self-made armor and the idea soon became Hammerkunst. Until the company was taken over by Mytholon in 2006, in addition to many metal and leather armors, the well-known Hammerkunst LARP weapons were also created, as well as various large costumes and sets. The collaboration with Mytholon was primarily focused on developing affordable LARP equipment in available quantities and bringing it to the German and European market. A large proportion of the products currently available from Mytholon were developed by us and, as far as possible, produced in the Far East.
In 2009, the company Freyhand was founded for business reasons and we began to develop more and more workshop space on our farm in order to be able to do justice to the variety of products offered by Mytholon.

In 2013 we set up our padded weapons workshop to produce the handmade small parts from the Mytholon range here and to implement our own ideas. Due to differing views, we left Mytholon in July 2014.

And a view...

Now Freyhand is under construction and we are working hard on all ends to produce LARP equipment that has what it takes to become one of your favorite pieces.

Small series and one-off production: we don't necessarily want to make the most, but we would like to make the best equipment you can find in LARP. We put our heart and soul into every weapon we build and are really happy when we see that our stuff is really well received.

Because you think it looks good, because it lasts a long time, because it meets the requirements of LARP equipment particularly well.

If you are still not satisfied, please send an email to support@freyhand.com.

We can never rule out that something might break. If that is the case, write to us and send us a photo of the damage so that we can see how we can solve the problem.
But don't forget that you have bought a LARP weapon. We try to make it as strong as possible, but if it is handled improperly, we unfortunately cannot give you a guarantee.

who we are

The “Freyhand Crew” consists of people who enjoy live role-playing, costume design and special effects.

We are enthusiasts. Our goal is not to get rich at any cost. Our goal is to have a good time, to spend it doing something that fills us up and to make things that make other people happy.

We like good craftsmanship and charming details. We like other people and our earth. We want to do something that isn't crap and that lasts. So we build long-lasting products from high-quality materials with careful workmanship and a beautiful design.

Nevertheless, it is also our goal to produce products that everyone can afford. To achieve this, we want to build up the most comprehensive product range possible so that everyone can find the equipment that suits their taste and budget.
Only those who love what fills their everyday life are willing to achieve something special.
